For the 7th year in a row, OGSystems has been named to the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies list. To celebrate this achievement, we highlighted 7 employees who have been with OGSystems for 7 years.

Meet Awal

Awal is OGSystems’ Brand Manager and works with a small group of talented individuals on the marketing and communications team. He provides expertise in brand management art direction, marketing communications, print design, and web design. Unofficially, he is the company’s personal stylist, a job he takes very seriously.

Describe your path to OGSystems.

I started my career like most in my field, by freelancing, and gained a lot of design experience doing so. During that time, I was fortunate enough to have interned at one of the best advertising agencies in the DC area— at the time Arnold worldwide— were I met and learned from some amazing creatives and began to gain a true appreciation for a holistic marketing approach. I then worked for the Art Institute of Washington and during my time there, a college friend contacted me about a small company with a great work atmosphere, awesome people and great leadership that needed a graphic designer… you guessed it, OGSystems. I was initially skeptical, but his description along with the potential to cut my daily 3-hour round trip commute in half convinced me to give it a chance.

Why have you stayed with OGS for 7+ years?

In a word “challenge.” I feel challenged and I’m given the opportunity to make an impact, to help shape something I can be proud of. Thinking back now, my friend was correct, but that’s not what has kept me here. OGSystems is a great company but no company is perfect, and the two founders know that, but the company continues to strive to get close to it. They inspire and empower me through the constant belief that better is possible, not just for me or the company, but for the clients and employees.

What has been the most exciting thing you’ve seen in OGSystems’ evolution as a company?

I might be a little biased, but for me it has been the company’s growth, especially with respect to the brand. The brand has evolved into a presence that truly speaks to the energy and intention of not just a company but cumulative energy, personalities and brands of the individuals that make up the company. It is an energy that excites, and its evolution continues to excite me.

What hasn’t changed about OGS in the last 7 years?

The energy, belief that better is possible, and leadership’s continued empowerment of employees and clients alike.
